H guys/girls,

Ive had my 5th gen 2.2vti (185hp) lude for the last 2 days now, and im slightly concerned over its, lack of "umph" When i plant my foot, it just doesnt seem to do much to be fair, not even in vtec!. The mods that it has are.... Aif filter (ITG i believe or piper cross) on an aluminium piping and a full exhaust system.. Jap speed 4-1 manifold and downpipe with a unbranded (as far as im aware) 2.5 inch de-cat - back box with 3 inch tip. Im thinking the exhaust system is holding it back, but a friend said it cant be. Im just concerned that it feels under power...

Any help would be apreciated!

I live in Lowestoft fella. Its manual, 1997 model (early 5th gen) The clutch is dieing anyway but it doesnt slip and wouldnt effect its power this much i doubt.

if its a manual shouldnt be sluggish mate. When you say sluggish what are you comparing it to?

Try to time some acceleration figures. The near-approximate time for a good launch then 0-60 mph would give us an idea if it's working or not, rather than just 'feel'.

I'll do some when its dry. It started to slightly miss-fire today. So im gonna do plugs and leads. What spark plugs are recommended for these?

When im next at my cousins ill check the exhaust for blows. I dont think the exhaust system has seen 1000 miles yet... lol.
