Hey all,

Ive just called Honda to see if there might be a recommended MTF for LSD boxes as I wasnt too sure.... The man asked me "what car, what year?" I tell him JDM 93 Prelude and his response is... "Hmm 94? No they didnt have LSD you must be mistaken!" I tell him again, Im certain it has LSD, its an import! (thinking to myself) How does he not know this working for Honda? he then goes " It must be an aftermarket LSD for your car to have it! I replied "The last time I checked it came with LSD standard!!" so after another minute or so tying to explain it to him I decided to stop wasting my time as he obviously couldnt help me...and am now where I should of probably asked in the first place! so do our LSD boxes require anything different than Honda MTF?

Thanks

Nope, same stuff i believe. I always say it's a UK car when going to Honda as they instantly panic if you mention it's an import

Without a registration that's recorded properly in their books those guys can't tell you anything

Amsoil MTF will do wonders for you LSD box my friend.

Lemon uses another alternative, but I'm sure he can tell you what that is as I have a mind blank at the minute lol.

I'm using Torco MTF - it's not quite as thick as the Amsoil, which makes it a good choice for high mileage boxes without any crunch issues.

Rough guide (based on what I've gleaned from a billion forums):

Thinnest - Low mileage Honda gearbox in good condition: - Use Honda MTF (eBay or a Honda Dealer)
Thicker - High mileage Honda gearbox in good condition: - Use Torco MTF (See Nimbus Motorsport on this forum)
Thickest - High mileage Honda gearbox with a crunch: - Use Amsoil MTF (See Opie Oils on this forum)

Thanks Nath, Ill remember this. Following Lemons guide tho, Im just over 100k and the engine and box are still in good condition, so I think ill stick to Honda MTF for now.

Cheers Lemon

and thanks for the responses guys!

My local Honda won't do anything without a reg plate, so have one you borrowed earlier in preparation ;-)

Plus any part prices automatically increase by 30%.

Imports never came with LSD standard. :ugeek:

It was optional.
