So we all know its a bad idea to sit up looking at cool stuff on ebay whilst a bit drunk right?
Well I woke up to find I had bid on a traditional 50lb longbow
Won the bloody thing. Now I need longer arrows than the ones we have here
this but in 50lb
Looking forward to some sunny weather
What late night bids have you found you won come morning?

I made a bow once when I was about 10! Bound several bits of wood together with garden string and used another piece for the string itself. Worked a treat!... Especially when I found a flightless aluminium arrow in the school field and could do away with the garden canes I'd been using

But then I killed a starling at what might as well have been point blank and felt bad, and shortly after that I lost the arrow in the inside of my neighbours greenhouse

so I didn't play with it much after that

Um, that style is a recurve not a longbow, but cool nonetheless! Enjoy

@donald: good score

its worth a cheeky now and then. Especially when you're pretty sure it wont fly.
@nafe:

sounds like you missed your calling. This is for competition on horseback so no starlings but I'm sure I will loose plenty of arrows
@benny: I thought it was a bit more of a recurve horsebow myself, hence the bid. A full long bow would be hard to weild on a pony

I think its just one of those ''put loads of related words into the title'' kinda auctions.

Sounds dangerous... Do you get to wear armour?

I have a scene from The Cable Guy in mind

no bows but pretty medieval.

@nafe: not for this, its more of your 'marauding mongolian ride by'. Three targets at a gallop

two arrows each target. Brown trouser if you ask me but the missis wants to play and I like playing with her so.... lol
we have gone on full on jousting days though and I plan to enter the league 'at some point'. cash finance for that hobby is quite costly though so it on the burner.
cable guy exactly
does anyone know what length of arrows I might need for this bow? im thinking 30''?

I did think that, I must admit! We have Mongolian bows at the club, they are so odd compared to a normal recurve, especially the flight of the arrow. When you think these guys used to be sooooo deadly with them....and from horseback!
