:D

Do you have the internet?

The whole world thinks that Honda has turned into GM or something and totally spunked its heritage & reputation. Except Honda's arrogant management, of course.

They might have now realised it, but it's difficult for them to about-turn & not lose face. Let alone rebuild the damage.

Main problem is that they don't have anything in their entire range that anybody wants.
They've killed of all the sports cars, their hybrids are crap, and they don't have the name to compete in the prestige game.
Doesn't leave them much to go on.

I consider myself a Honda fanboy, but I wouldn't buy anything they've released this millenium.

In the book, Premium Power, back in the 1990s Honda had the attributes to become premium; think of the near-BMW range they had then & the qualities and the buyer loyalty. Partly because they chased volume, partly to justify Acura's existence, partly through asinine management, they chucked it all away going in the opposite direction.

Jumping on the CO2 religion when they cancelled the big Acuras & the S3000 was a cheap move, which backfired. If they explained their hybrids better, maybe they might sell one or two. But the hybrid cars themselves would need to be far less crap, too.

And the rest of them need to be less boring, less GM Astra-like too.

Er, Honda!

Their stuff sells really well in the US, was selling really well in China ('til they remembered they hated the Japanese) and elsewhere. They also don't make esoteric jobby no-one buys, because they cancelled it. Well, apart from most of the Acura range, but that's another story.

Also, check Autonews; ATM VAG, BMW & M-B can do no wrong and are blindly worshipped worldwide! VAG could buy up Alfa Romeo. Every quarter. For cash. That profitable.

It's just the middle-of-the-road boring crap no-one wants. Especially in power and brand-obsessed Yewp.

That's thy Opel & PSA and FIAT are walking dead. Well, FIAT's corpse is being animated by Chrysler in the US, but that's another story. And why Honda going downmarket here was a dumb move.

Modern cars in general do nothing much for me, full stop. Fat, bulky, sanitised things.

The recent civics have been anything but boring and undesirable against their competitors though? I thought the styling (in/out) was great and the dash put some style and quality looking/made modern technology in the mainstream like no other manufacturer was doing (don't know the current model well enough to comment on that). It was nice to drive too when I had one as a courtesy car (Si model lol), if rather gutless...

And I have to say, the Jazz is absolutely excellent. Best car in that class by a mile. A better drive than the civic tbh
