Another Insurance thread!!

Post by h10ndr » Fri Jan 18, 2013 7:05 pm

Has anyone renewed their car insurance lately? Wow - they have gone up - for me anyway. I think its where I live is going down the pan...

I found when shopping around the nearest competitors for price had huge excesses circa. £700!!

I've just renewed mine with Sky Insurance - all mods declared - agreed value (£2k) - £300 excess - (low mileage 5k) policy. £692. I am 44 and have 9yrs NCB and have use of another car.

I think its higher than some pay on here - but in comparison to the cover and other quotes. I think I am happy.
Just need to return the agreed value photos and paperwork - and wait for the letter of underwriting so I am fully covered.

There is no way I am taking her out in the snow - I have worked from home all week...(probably will next week)

Yeah just got my renewal through today, £750 up from £500 last year.

Saying that I'd bet when I phone them it'll drop to £500 again

My lude went down from £600 to £580 at renewal, all mods declared. So I called them up, told them I was no longer a pub landlord and I was now an HGV driver again and it dropped £80 :D
Then I swapped to the s2k and my insurance went back up to £580. Not bad considering how much more likely I am to crash it :)

Remember though guys about the European legislation that stated they couldn't charge more or less depending on gender.

Not sure if its went up or down as ive just got the car (5th Gen Vti) but work this 1 out.

Had an MG ZR runner before the prelude. 2003 car, 1.4 16v, insurance group 17. Just started the policy 2 weeks ago. Done some online quotes for the Prelude and the cheapest being around £500 F/C. The company im with (My Motor Quote, part of the Allan and Allan group) were coming back at around £1k.

So out of interest i called them up to see what they could do in regards to switching it over from the MG. Ran the details etc, and the only charge on the premium was the £25 admin fee, the rest was staying the same. WTF. :? So for me, 28 yrs young, 0 NCB, and F/C for less than £500.

Not the 1st time its happened either. Went from an Astra Coupe 1.8 16v, to a Fiat Punto Active Sport 1.2 16v and the premium went up. Questioned them about it and it was because it was a newer car :?
