Yeah I've seen that done before, doesn't work anywhere near as good as using the proper enzymes used by your body in the stage of DNA replication where the double helix is unwound and reformed though  :geek:

They're pretty amazing creatures fruit flies 8-) comparative to the body:brain:neurones ratio of much larger flies and even some birds, they are incredibly intelligent. Where for example human neurones have sensory input, the information is collated and then a signal sent as an output all in a production line type manner, flies have more complex neurones (in a way) that are divided into regions depending on what's going on, so one region will have a number of parts that work together on one stimulus, whilst another region will work on another stimulus. I think the easiest way to translate that would be if you had the ability to feel hot and cold simultaneously at exactly the same neurone, and to be able to differentiate. Probably a terrible analogy but hey.

Why don't you do something really interesting like studying why some dog turds go white and others seem furry?
I have always wanted to know that.

@paul: white dog jobby was caused by the inclusion of chalk into petfood to bulk it out in the 70-80's. the dog turd dries out and the chalk becomes obvious. these are not visible nowadays as 'most' dog owners pick their jobby up and chalk has been taken out.

Furry turds are caused by a homeostatic situation in the local climate. If it stays warm and damp then fungi get chance to have a go before it gets too dried out. This could just be sat under aleaf or in your shoe box under the bed, either will do ;)
