Tax rebate question.....

So, the GF got a cheque through the door few weeks back from HMRC for £523. On the paperwork it said everything would be explained in the other information pack. This came the next day.

Thing is though, it had 2 separate sheets for 2 different tax years. 1 had the details explaining about the £523 refund, and the other had details about a refund from the previous year, which was another £196.

So, does this mean she should have received another cheque for £196, or is it included in the £523?? To me it looks like she should have got 2 cheques, but not 100% sure. Ive told her to call them, but i think she's scared incase she looks a bit of a clown.

Yeah i think so too.

Aye she better get on the phone before the window for claiming closes and she has to wait another year.

I'm guessing they atill owe you £196. Is that year mentioned at all in the details for the £523?
For the sake of a phone call I would rather look like a clown than miss out on £200 i was due.

Nope its not mentioned, which is why i too think its a separate payment.

Thing is though, if they have sent it out, and its been "lost in the post", will they send another out?? It won't have been cashed, but what if they think we have it.

Check the bottom of the calc - the refund should be B/F into the later year & rfd. shown there.

Tell her don't be scared; HMRC are usually a bunch of f ucking useless clowns, so she cannnot make as big a fool of herself as they do every day.

Whenever I do my tax return they're pretty prompt... but then I submit mine the first day possible.

As for getting a rebate from a few years ago, last Christmas I got a fairly large sum. 1st letter explaining what was what and the amount, a 2nd letter with the cheque.

I would assume if you're due two separate amounts then you should be getting four letters.
