If you had to teach a monkey how to be a mechanic...

...what selection of tools would you recommend he buy to start out?
Let's assume that the monkey will just be doing basic service items on his Prelude to begin with, but if he gets a bit overconfident he might want to tackle trickier jobs as they come up. Nothing really hard though; he's just a monkey, remember.
Also, he only gets paid peanuts, so nothing too expensive

I have heard good reviews about Halfords tools. A good starter kit would be something like:

a decent socket set a set of decent spanners and screwdrivers a big hammer a balljoint splitter not the fork type the expanding/screw type(you will know what i mean when you see it
) a trolley jack a pair of axle stands a pair of mole grips and a couple of pairs of pliars long nose and short nose and an extending breaker bar for a wheel brace. should cover all the basics.

That will cover most bases.

Halfords Profesional tools really good and the life times garrantee makes them even better.
The tool kit above is a good place to start. I kinda wish thats what I did instead of getting cheap Stanley stuff.

I knew i had missed something but you dont really need one for basic stuff aldi do decent tools i have there ratchet spanners and there is no difference to the halfords stuff that i have so i bought one of there torque wrenches it is pretty good

I bought a halfords professional set in a big silver case came with screwdrivers socket sets and loads more. Good bit of kit
