So this is 22x150 timber that is actually between 16-17x142-145.

So what's the point in calling it 22x150 if if definitely isn't 22x150?

That's 27% variance on thickness to the supposed 'nominal' dimmension.
Treated wood shouldn't shrink that much and it's definitely easy to machine wood to closer to the nominal dimensions than that. So really, what is the bloody point?!

Why not just call it 16.5x143, so the description 'reasonably' accurately reflects the product FFS :troll: :lecture:

(very annoyed trying to find some floor board timber that actually matches what's in my house and this is the only one I can find, only to find that it isn't anywhere near what it says it is!)

Definitely stupid, but the dimensions they give are often the dimensions of the wood before plaining, so always best to double check. Still completely stupid as you said though, as who actually cares what size the wood used to be?

Hmmm... Good call, hadn't thought of that one! :10:

I was gonna ring a local timber merchant that cuts/planes to size and see how much they charge.
Best look for a local reclamation yard first! :D

A spade is not a spade when it is a shovel.
