Well ladies n gents, I took the car out for some testing today and to cut a long story short I had a go at a few rolling starts with my mate and his 265bhp Astra VXR, I started off half a car back as he was initiating the launch and finished up half a car in front :)

I was expecting the car to be slower as its not been tuned to the correct fuel pressure, the car is not running a CAI and I am running a different header and 2.25" exhaust, whereas in the civic the engine was tuned to a larger system. I took the car to 6.5k In 2nd and 7.5k in 3rd so I think it has plenty more to give when I know its safe to rev it to 8.5k and get the other parts sorted! I was expecting the VXR to be quicker as it certainly feels like it with the way the turbo delivers the power.

One Astra VXR down, the next challenge is a 340bhp saph cosworth :D

Will get some footage of both, we got a few Go Pro's to play around with. The VXR sounded epic with its Cobra Exhaust and the cossie is something else too!

We are putting some fresh gaskets on the cossie shortly which will give me some time to get the Prelude sorted out ready for a showdown. The cossie is also 4WD so we don't even need to race to know which will be quicker off the line, rolling starts only I'm afraid..

Cobra exhausts do sound amazing, I have a cobra sports cat back on my lude and everyone comments how nice it sounds.

I'll look forward to seeing some vids

You would of won by a bigger margin if it was on a twisty road, as the Astra would of under steered into a hedge as all quick vauxhalls do.

Not to mention twitchy as hell as the front is constantly snatching for grip. The new XVR Astra looks to be much better though (unfortunately).
