Declaring Import on insurance...

Well, what has come to my attention is the MASSIVE price difference if a Lude is UKDM or JDM.

Just had a few quotes for a gen 4 import 2.2 vtec and it almost doubled from the same car made in the UK.

WHY???

Seems absolutely ridiculous to me, so my next question is, do you HAVE to declare it as an import? Its the same car pretty much and I cant see why on earth it has such a huge price increase just because the factory location was another country.

Someone explain? Before I start visiting insurance company offices and slap them all round the face.

All ludes were built in Japan ;)

And I never found any difference in price for a JDM who are you getting quotes from?

its just an insurance scam for charging more on certain vehicles that aren't made in this country sometimes justified because parts for repair are not available in the uk so command a premium

I had to mention that my car was an Import as after I don't want to get a jobby value of an UKDM if my car was written off or something..

So what if I'm happy to get ukdm value price for it? :D
Can I just click 2.2 vtec without stating the import part and STILL be covered??? or no?

I did quotes on confused, and 2 separate multi car quotes from Aviva and Admiral. (both of which want to charge me nearly a grand for the Lude alone, then an extra 400 quid for my golf.
