Don't know how to ask this question but is there a way of checking if the car is level on the ground..

Where can I put the spirit level to make sure the car is level on the ground? Flat on the rocker cover?

Front to back, or side to side?

Front to back I'd go with underneath the sills.

Side to side, not sure. Slam panel maybe?

Why not put the spirit level on the actual round?

I'd check the arch gaps for a good reference.

measure from floor to arch in the same place, that will tell you if its level.

1. Park in empty swimming pool
2. Add water until near the top of bonnet
3. Add a light supernatant colourant
4. Wait
5. Drain the water
6. Presto! A line around the outside of the car showing exact level

That might seem like a lot of trouble. If so there's an alternative method, which just needs a revolving platform for turning rail carriages and a laser-theodolite.

If you really can't be bothered with that (What is the world coming to?) then you can just place 4 properly calibrated and accurate barometers at different corners of the car and work out the height difference from variation of air pressure.

If for some reason even THAT is unsatisfactory, I suggest you measure the car using a nice, big decent co-ordinate measuring machine, and relate to the floor

Or how about timing the fall of weights from each corner of the car to the ground (if you're lazy, a pressure sensitive mat) and use basic Newtonian physics (I'm not going to do it all for you. Ask Donald if you must) and your preferred measure(s) of gravity to check height variation.

But.... really.... ..what is level? Don't you thing you should tie that down before leaping into such reckless metrology?

You spelt "think" wrong.

Stand up straight and see if you lean left or right. If you lean one way its not level ground.
