Such a shame they had to mess around with hybrids and all-wheel drive. They add loads of weight and complexity – Soichiro Honda wouldn't approve...
The original, pop-up headlamp NSX was pure Honda race engineering at its very best. This is just a trendy, politically correct hotchpotch, it's a great marketing tool to fool gullible car journalists, but as a drive it can never be as good as the real NSX.

Unfortunately, rules and regulations are killing off all the good engine technologies that we grew up lusting after and is forcing manufacturers to search for viable alternatives to not just appeal to the public but also to keep their arses clean from the powers above. Just look at the K20A.
So having to maximise performance with hybrids is the future I'm afraid. I don't like where this is going for the combustion engine but as time moves on, so does technology. It can surely only get better?

I don't think we're quite where you say we are - if Jaguar can launch a 542BHP XJR this week, with absolutely no electric motors or 4WD, I don't see why the new NSX has to have all this extra nonsense when it's supposed to be a purist sportscar. It's more about marketing and pandering to the greenies (who hate cars and want to destroy them in every way possible), and I don't think we should give ground so easily and say "it's the way of the future". It needn't be, necessarily.
Honda should come up with a great, ultra light, 4WS, non-turbo V6 NSX 2; they could easily get 400BHP from a C35a replacement and 4WS and traction control would remove the need for 4WD, which is far heavier and less efficient. The power to weight ratio should give 60MPH in 4 seconds, which is enough for any road car.
