Can cat sensor unplugged cause loss of Vtec?

Just so stumped, tried most things out that could of caused loss of vtec. Wondering if anyone has had this issue before?
Sold:-98 prelude 2.2vti motegi.
Sold:-99 2.0 full h22a5 2.2vti convertion.
Dead:- 92 jdm import si bb4 rocket ship (modded).
Sold:- 95 2.2vtec si jdm import lsd bb4

NEW car:- mitsubishi gto 3.0v6 twin turbo, underated beast.
New old trakter:- Seat ibiza 1.9sdi commute slagggg

I wouldn't have thought so, is it earthed on the chassis?

Are you sure the vtec solenoid is gettting a signal from the ecu? Wire in a bulb or buzzer just toi be 100%

Just solved my no vtec and was speedo. Worth a try.
Rule is up to temp or no go and over 18mph or no go so make sure
Ecu getting these signals......
