Agree entirely.

However i had a short shift and an extender and hated the additional throw length over the savings of wheel to shifter time saved.

Does it not also depend on your type of short shifter? Those billet alloy eBay jobbies are alright but you need to do some trimming under the gear stick boot or it catches when going into 1st, 3rd and 5th. Also, if you have any slight gearbox crunches at all, these short shifters will make it worse and sometimes difficult to get it in 1st gear (without popping it into 2nd quickly first to line it up). <-- my experiences with them on Prelude's anyway.
