5th gen fuel tank

I had the same issue and was lucky to find new old stock one. But it took over a year of searching and it was pricey. I tried second hand one, paid 50quid and it was 50 quid flushed down the toilet. It turned being even worse than the one I had.
I would try to find somewhere local a company specialized in fixing fuel tanks. Take yours there and let them decide if it's fixable. They use special resin which can seal almost any leak and usually give a warranty for their work.

You should be able to install the 4th gen tank as well, the tank itself is almost identical, the 5th gen tank is harder to remove from the car as it usually sticks to the chassis(bitumen or something).
If everything else fails, read the manual!

Had it up on a ramp and couldn't get the tank off, any suggestions

How did you get the tank off in the first place, had it on a ramp and couldn't get it off.

5th gen fuel tank

First I have disconnected the battery. Then under rear seats you will find a cover. Remove it and disconnect 2 wire plugs. Then remove left rear wheel to get acces to filler pipes. You'll find them under plastic cover in the back of wheel arch. Next there is another cover for feed, return and breather pipes. Undo all pipework. Next you have 2 straps under the tank. Just be very carefull as when you'll undo straps there will be nothing to hold the tank. You may have to loose handbrake cables around the tank for easier access but this is optional.
Hope this will help.

100%
I have 5g tank on my 4g. There is a few differences but overall shape is identical. I had to supply fuel pump bracket and breather separator as first had different stud patyern and second had different diameter.

Srsly, it's mounted only on the brackets.
4 bolts but the 5th gent tank tend to stick to the chassis because 4th gen uses soft amortization squares but on 5th gen, those squares are like pitch(tar) and it may melt and stick to the chassis in at least 3 places, front sides, and middle. Take a look on the internet at the 5gen fuel tank, those black labels cause this.
If everything else fails, read the manual!
