Well, mills pulled a blinder and went and looked that car over for me and found a few minor flaws so I left it.

Been having a sly look at this pretty much top-spec Motegi on PH - http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/clas ... egi/835884

The guy seems pretty straight up and has sent me some more photos of the damaged areas and a (massive!) video. Would be great if someone could cast an eye over the video and give me their opinion. Seems to be a bit of an engine chirp and quite a lot of white exhaust fumes?

Video (needs quicktime) - https://dl.dropbox.com/u/54351158/MOV02581.MPG
Bodywork closeups - https://www.dropbox.com/sh/xn00z3mclr4u3zm/jp38mhN3NP

Finally, reg is W757FKW and MOT number 249106662097 for checking MOT history - http://motinfo.direct.gov.uk/internet/j ... equest.jsp

My main concern is that it seems to be due a timing belt change (no record of when last one took place, from MOT history I'd guess about 7 years ago).

Not sure how serious I am about this one, but its an unusual spec so interesting to look at anyway

I do like the spec, but think it is a bit pricey. The white smoke might well be condensation. It generally clears by the time the engine gets warm, but if this one has been stood for 6 months then it might well take longer. There was a small puddle under the exhaust after it had been running for a few minutes. If you are seriously considering buying this car then I would ask him to confirm it is water. The other cause for white smoke is if it is running rich, and has unburnt fuel. This could be a bigger issue. The engine doesnt sound as smooth as some, and there is a rattle that I cant make out.

I'd pay the top dollar for the yellow one if it ran well. Those seats are uber rare! I didn't even know you could get a cream suede/alacantara trim on them :o

But Keiths one is a bargin!

Yellow one is the one to go for with H22A8 and the rest of the factory options. 8-)

I reckon the interior has been professionally re-trimmed  never seen the team honda sports seats in that colour before, not even in the prelude options brochure 8-)

looks like a nice car for the money, body work issues are minor, its in alot better nick than the 1 i viewed ;)
bit tatty under the bonnet mind, but things like the battery tie and rad stays can be replaced :!:

i also think the white smoke from the exhaust could be condensation. the chirping noise sounds like it could be coming from 1 of the belts.

If you find one within an hour or so's drive of Andover, I'll look at it for you. If that helps?
Meanwhile, PM on its way.

Well, haven't seen the car yet, but agreed a price of £1250 on this - http://www.autotrader.co.uk/used-cars/h ... ?logcode=p

Quite pleased with my haggling considering its only been on the market a few hours.

Bad points - slightly out of shape back bumper following a reversing incident (repaired but still slightly wonky on one side), and the timing belt needs doing, but I reckon selling the private plate should cover most of that

Hopefully it's in as good nick as the seller claims, will find out tomorrow!
