Rear Wheel Bearings

Post by dave0555 » Tue Nov 26, 2013 3:20 pm

Hi Guys

I have a rumbling rear wheel bearing on my Gen 5 2.0i. I have all I need to replace it, including a puller but new ones are hugely expensive as far as I can tell. Anyone got any for sale or can anyone point me in the right direction for new ones?

Cheers

Dave

The rear wheel bearing on my 5th was £89 (no vat), the garage I took it to got the part and fitted it, so there are some places out there selling them for less. I think it was tms that supplied it.

Do you need a puller for the rear wheel bearing on the 4th? When I looked into it for the 5th there was no mention of needing a puller to remove it in the manual.

EDIT TMS are Scotland only

Thanks guys - yes having checked other forums and how to's it would appear a puller is almost certainly not required. I will keep checking for decent used ones.

They can be had on ebay for £50, and assuming it's the same as a 4th gen, a puller is not required to remove it.

Hi Dave
I just bought these off ebay for my 4th gen from Firstline. They came in good quality with NTN Japanese bearings and after 1/2 track day they all good quality.

Bottom line is you better with Japanese bearings and don't take chance with cheap Chinese copies.
