buy new Nathan the 5g has a design issue with the rear wheel bearings and you are just moving the problem forward a few months with a secondhand one
Also I replaced both rears on mine when one was grumbling and the difference was night and day felt like before I had been driving with the handbrake on

Agree with Merc, id buy new, one of mine hums at higher speeds, Merc did give a replacement but since the 4 stud ones are cheaper than 5 stud I'm just going to replace for new.
If you do go the second hand route maybe best saying you want a 5 stud one as I'm sure you'd be a little disappointed if you received a 4stud one in the post of a 2.0

I got mine from Click Car Parts, paid around £40 for the hub assembly (inc bearings) for mine

Cheers bud.
I had actually meant with the bolt on spindle as well, but having just looked around see that that's not really an option

Yep, got the rear left to replace on mine. Considering pote holes/curbs can dammage them, I would "recommend" to go with a brand new part for this kind of stuffs. The thing is that you can't take the bearing only, you'll have to buy the complete hub so it's a little expensive : 180€ (~150£) here in France and aftermarket parts websites.

How easy do these bearing assemblies pull off the spindles? Am I going to need a puller or will a good clout do?
