I have a set of H22a2 hydraulic LMA's that I can get to easily (cheap).

Yes early style are longer and later style shorter.
The newer shorter style are better but require a spacer, or use nsx lma's in the early heads

The a7 has sprung LMA's rather than the older hydraulic ones. TBH you'd be better with the sprung ones.

A7 should be the newer style I guess, if you want them from honda I think there around £13 each.
Older style look like a solid cylinder with a plunger, they do wear and best replaced.
Newer style just look like a spring and nothing to really wear, I don't see a problem with using 2nd hand parts if you can get them!
