Guys I am new to this site and considering buying this car as my first lude. I am no mechanic but would appreciate any thoughts…

So many around. Don't wanna buy a dog...

Hi Simon,

Looks ok to me. Always a gamble but if it's a rust free car ( rear wheel arches) it's not a bad buy.
Low mileage h22's are getting rare and they are very strong engines.

Go and drive it. Listen and feel the engine and gearbox.
If you have doubts get it checked out by a mechanic. But for the money I think it's a nice car.
I miss my 5th.... :|

Good luck!

Yeah did see his post. I am happy to pay a fair price for a good car. Rather that than pay £600 ( as many are) to find it riddled with issues.
Just can't get head round massive price differentials….

Well took the plunge and for the first time in many years i have a huge smile on my face…….at the thought of a shiny 5th Gen……he's even delivering it for me from Scotland to Devon….. I feel very lucky….
The wife thinks I have gone mad…… If you know her you would know she drove me mad ages ago……..For me its all about getting into a car that puts a big beaming smile on yer face and none of this new ' quiet as a mouse, smooth all mod cons' stuff does it for me at all.

Nice!! Well done!
Give it the TLC it needs and then some more!
I feel the same about a car, you need to feel happy when you see it and enjoy driving it.
Make a priority list of the things that need to be done, not the things you want to do.
It's easy to buy a new exhaust but maintenance is more important !

Looking fwd to your topic!
