Im looking for an accelerator cable for my facelift BB4 - not sure if its causing my idle problem but it seems like the one i have is sticking a bit - i might be able to sort it but would be best to fit a new(ish) one - so if anyone has a spare kicking about then let me know. :)

Is the pedal not lifting up in sync with your foot? That was the first sign the cable was going on my Golf. Bloody horrid too, hated the car accelerating for that brief moment after I eased off the pedal :scaredtoss: Have you checked eBay, I never thought I'd get one for my Golf due to it's age but after a quick search had one new for just over a tenner :)

Btw be careful if you grease it - mine was snagging due to fraying, and whilst lubing it briefly masked the problem, it snapped shortly after as I drove out my office car park

^^ I had an accelerator cable snap when I had an MKII golf, wide open throttle untill you turn the engine off

Ive thought about trying some 3in1 and i may have to this as a temp fix but the outer cover had rubbed right through and prob some condensation got in and started rusting either that or the cable got a kink in it from when we were taking the rocker off to do the cam belt (rocker cover was on/off 3 or 4 times).
Im just hoping its not Merlins curse of the bouncing idle.

The throttle on the carb mkII's are diabolical  mine jammed at WOT whilst I was doing 70 odd on a dual carriageway in heavy traffic. Kicked it into neutral, but the carb model has no rev limiter... Revs went off the scale, most godawful noise I ever heard and jobby loads of black smoke out the exhaust. Immediately kill my ignition, then remember the carb model's brakes are vacuum assisted. Had ended up going about 85 and had to get the car to the side of the road using only brute force and the handbrake :scaredtoss:
