5th gen Parts Needed

Post by PreludePete » Wed Apr 18, 2018 11:35 am

My 1999 Manual red Top Motegi has a couple of advisories on its MOT I need to sort.

Rear Fuel pipe corroded near tank.
and
Offside rear exhaust box and hanger corroded.

Best place to source parts?

Any advice welcome!

Get some fuel hose from the motor factors and replace the corroded pipe. Its a common issue with Preludes, both of my Ludes have had this issues.

Thanks Merlin,

Yes, the garage are looking into inserting a repair! my diagram shows 3 pipes so its a matter of sorting which one(s) need doing.

Just the replacement exhaust to sort now! Variation in part numbers a bit baffling! (sorry for the pun!)

This is the one I just bought.

Direct Fit Rear Exhaust Silencer Back Box for Honda Prelude 2.2 (02/97-01/99)
( 263075436322 )

Check out whether you can separate it from the centre section though, on mine the mating flanges were rusted together.

That's on Ebay btw. The best price, but collection from Northampton.

Hi Lanky,

So long as will fit 99 redtop Vti I am interested, and am around weekend.

PM me with price etc and I can hope fully link up with your partner over the weekend. If you can send me a pic of the box that would be very helpful, but not a deal breaker!

Don't happen to have a 99 owners handbook spare??

Pete

Hi Lanky,

Honda garage have confirmed 99 back exhaust has a different part no to 97/98 so we need to check it the right one.

I will get a look at this afternoon it and confirm what it is supposed to look like.

I am pretty sure the 97-98 & 99+ back boxes are the same, they do have different finishing tips though (the 99+ has fatter tips).
