WTB: VTEC solenoid/spool assembly (or top gasket!)

Started leaking oil from between my VTEC solenoid and spool valve ... opened It up, it's the earlier, thick gasket with integral mesh filter (36172-p08-005) that's split and the mesh is goosed. If anyone has one of them lying around ... H dealers don't seem to - they just want to sell you the later, thinner, useless one.

If not, it'll have to be a replacement of the whole solenoid/spool valve assembly. I think they're the same across all VTEC H22a Preludes.

Anyone have one that's not leaking? I have a new gasket/mesh for the cylinder head mating surface so no worries there.

They are different, some have pressure sensor built in.

Are there different types of gasket/filter?

There are. Earlier ones had a thick rubber gasket with mesh, later ones thinner rubber. I think any 4G assembly at least should fit my 1993 BB4.

(edit: your ebay link is for the gasket that goes between the assembly and the cylinder head. It's the other, smaller one, that goes between the valve and solenoid at the top of the assembly that I need. Or the whole thing.)

There was a thread about the different gaskets here ... pictures may be gone now, though:

I managed to get the thicker gasket from ebay, it has a different part number than the thinner one.

Well, I had my local H dealer phone me back and say they could definitely, absolutely, won't be the newer part, get a 005 one for Friday after all, for about £7.00.

We'll see. Watch this space. :)

Fingers crossed, mine said that, then provided the superseeded part anyway. :x

i have a vtec solenoid (complete , from a 5th gen) that has a 2 year old gasket on it (the decent rubber one with the protruding mesh filter part in the middle). let me know if you end up needing it. I bought it from Ebay and it was from the phillipenes and cost me £17quid (the cheapest i could find at the time).

scratch that, the gasket i replaced was from valve body to the head - so the one inside is most likely 20years old (although not leaking last time it was in used)
