98 5G Washer Bottle Motor

Post by Jackson Bondy » Fri Sep 28, 2018 12:45 pm

Pretty sure the washer bottle motor has given up the ghost.
Ran the bottle empty because I'm an idiot and now after filling it up there's no longer any whir from the motor so I suspect I need a new one.

Also does anyone know if the service manual tells you how to change it? I've found the washer tank but not the motor.

Cheers.

no whirring is a good bet the motor has gone. I have no idea if it going to be of any use but I have the ATR one sitting here away to get dumped with the rest of the car. If it is of any use its yours for the postage cover.

It's super easy to change, take the front bumper off and you have all the access you need.

Motor just unclips from the bottle, I've also got one here bud if you need it. Cheers brandon

Thanks buddy but I'm not sure if the motor is the same. I'll do some digging and see if I can find out.

Hi buddy have you got a part number for the Type R washer motor?
I doubt they're the same but worth a try!

Still looking for one of these as well as a passenger side window regulator if anyone has one.

Sometimes they just seize up a bit if they have sat dry for a while.

ask an assistant to pull the wiper stalk (to engage the motor, pull wipers off windscreen naturally), whilst you give the pump motor a bash, if this frees it up - then generally your safe. I've 'fixed' a broken pump this way after the bottle cracked - motor unused for a month or so dry, fixed the cracked tank, filled up, then wouldn't whir when called for. A quick whack whilst power was applied sorted it and it was fine ever since.

Yep, could just be sludge/silt in the bottom of the tank, tbh.

Pretty sure I have a spare pump, will try and have a look this weekend.
