Long Driveshaft (left hand side) bearings.

Post by tom023 » Mon Oct 01, 2018 7:19 pm

Last night I rushed putting the Lude back together in the dark after changing the inner driveshaft boot (left hand side) because I did needed the car for this morning. Drove it off the drive, felt vibration and stopped. I've pulled it apart this evening and have found that the cv joint bearings have been snapped. Obviously I didn't locate them properly in their runner when putting the joint back together.

So now I am looking for the 3 bearings. Whether they come with the external half of the shaft (the one that goes into the hub) or not I'm not bothered. The spindle they sit on and the runners they sit in have no damage.

Heads up guys... Don't rush stuff in the dark.

That's a bummer.
But yep, they only assemble correctly, one way - if you rush them back together 90^ out, you will have problems :|

Tell me about it... I was rushing because the family decided to go to the local mexican for dinner. The only outcome I got from my slapdashyness was a burning rear end and a broken car the next day.

Lets see if Vanzep can help me sort out one of those problems.
