Hola! Looking for a good-condition coolant pipe (engine-to-heater matrix pipe) to replace the deteriorated one in my H22A5 BB8. There's one on eBay for £36 incl. postage, but I wanted to check the forum first, in case there's a Lude friend who wants to sell theirs :)

Also looking for a radiator cap replacement, as the seal on the current one is weak, and a bonnet cable, if anyone has one with more spring in it than mine. I'd rather not keep having to slam the bonnet 5-6 times until it eventually catches :shifty:

EDIT: pipe now ordered from eBay, new cap hopefully from Merlin.

Hello

You can buy replacement caps (and seals for the cap) from Honda. A new cap is around £32, new seal around £3. Either order online, or from a local dealer (if you have one). Definitely better than putting another used one on there.

The bonnet doing that, is more likely to be the latch gummed up than anything else - it's quite common that it attracts dirt and the grease dries up, causing it to stick. If you remove the latch, thoroughly de-grease it all and jet wash it clean and then re-lubricate, you'll probably find it works fine again.
If you don't fancy taking it out to do that, thoroughly shower it with WD-40 over a short course of time and you'll probably find it frees up ok.

I have a few OEM rad caps knocking around. I won't ever use them as I have Mishimoto rads on both my Ludes.

There are two types of rad caps, the Type F and Type D, what one do you have. Below are two examples.

Type f https://www.torque-gt.co.uk/hybrid-raci ... ype-f.html
Type D https://www.torque-gt.co.uk/spoon-radia ... ype-d.html

Hi wurlycorner, thanks for the advice!

Unfortunately the website says they won't ship orders <160 € to UK.

A thorough WD-40 treatment was given and seems to have helped

Also worth checking no one has adjusted the rubber bonnet stays also. These affect the bonnet gap when closed, you can screw them in and out to adjust the pre-load on the catch slightly. Over time the rubber can shrink and go hard and need a slight adjustment.

If you've hit the mech with brake clean and some grease then its probably OK (be sure to actuate the bonnet release several times and really get it lubed up, you don't want the mech to stick and the cable snap as then you'll be in trouble).

Oh yes, I just used that as an example. You could order from the parts department in any Honda dealer. Or if you have the part number, you can order it from Lings Honda or CoxMotorParts, who are UK Honda dealers that both have online stores (but don't have part diagram lookup facilities these days).

Hi Merlin,

Tagging you again as the DM appears to be stuck in my Outbox; despite working with computers and email for 25+ years, I can't figure out a way to get it to shift to Sent...

Do you still have an F-style cap to sell and post please?

Nothing you've done wrong/not done - if it's sat in outbox, it just means Merlin hasn't read it yet.
When he reads it, it will move to 'sent'.
@vanzep can you possibly give Merlin a nudge off-forum?

Hi, are you in desperate need of it? It's at my warehouse and I won't be there for about another 1.5 weeks.
