As some of you might know, my 'lude is off to the garage to have it's head gasket replaced tomorrow, so I'm making a tentative enquiry in case the news is worse than a head gasket..
Does anyone have a 2.3i they are stripping? I might need a H23A2 cylinder block..
My car doesn't go in til the 19th, so at the moment I'm trying to pre-empt a worse-case scenario.
If anyone has one kicking about in good condition, I would REALLY appreciate hearing from you.
with the best will in the world, I really hope I won't need it - but the way my car has been lately I think it might be prudent to ask!!
Thanks guys
Doug

Not to ruin your plans, but if the H23 is very ill, I would look for an H22 instead. This is what I have done, twice.
You only need the engine (with loom), ECU, and to run three wires up to the strut top connections. Then VTEC
You already have the correct brakes, and the H23's gearbox gives you the best third gear in the world when mated to an H22

I'll do that as an absolute last resort, but I would rather keep the old 2.3 lump if I can..
I know, I know
How much would a half decent H22 be anyways? Just as a matter of interest...

I paid around £250 each time. The joy of the 2.3 is it already has the correct brakes etc etc. Plus, as I said before, VTEC!

Still on the lookout for a 2.3 block ATM tho if anyone has one, PM me..
Cheers

Much as I love the H22... My first lude was a 2.3 and I loved it.
They're mega rare now too (I see less of them around than 2.0's?

) so I'd be with Doug keeping his as H23
Hope you either get some good news or can find the bits you need cheaply.
