Cars decided not to start this morning, its ticking over when I turn the key and its got plenty of battery on the volt meter just not got the power to start.

Any other suggestions as to what it is?

If it is distributor I need one ASAP Biggleswade, Bedfordshire area as I start work in an hour! Got a bit of time but need it today!

Check the obvs first - do you have fuel? i.e. can you hear the fuel relay 'click' when you turn the key?
It could be the ignitor or coil, both of which are inside the dizzy cap and easy to replace.

Dizzy going is usually preceded by a 'death screech'!

Could be the starter motor m8. Dont think it would tick over with dizzy gone.
Give the starter a good wack see if it frees it.
Have got a dizzy but a bit far away.

I took 'ticking over' to actually mean turning over, i.e. the starter?

Ill have a listen but haven't heard any bad noises when I tried a moment ago. I've got plenty of fuel. It did this the other day, left the car open over night went to start it and it really struggled to start. I've been trying to start it for ages and now the battery is going flat.

What do you mean by left the car open mate? Just wondering if you have an immobiliser and it's a water issue??

Yep can hear the fuel motor going. It's completely dead now, now it go at all. Either starter motor or dizzy not working. Ben can you bring that spare starter motor over here? Desperate for it need to get to work! X

Not the immobiliser, as its my Clifford alarm I turn the key press the button and it turns on dash lights and lets me start it. The ignition works so can't be that.

I'm sorry man, I can't, I'm at work all day and the Mrs is out too.
TBH though, if it was turning over but not firing, that wouldn't indicate starter to me, as the start is doing it's job :?

Yeah that's what I'm thinking now with my little knowledge of how an engine works. So that eliminates that and the fuel pump. So I'm thinking more on the lines of either spark plugs or dizzy?!
