Right, so it's a weekend when the Nordschleife is open to the public.
I know of people who have been caught out by the regs on such days, specifically:
  • - Each vehicle driver must be in possession of a ... valid driving licence.
    - The driver must carry the driving licence and the vehicle registration papers with him/her.
    - Drivers of vehicles which are not registered in Germany must carry proof of insurance with them.
Meeting these requirements shouldn't pose a problem, of course!
  • - the noise threshold value is not allowed to exceed the level in accordance with the near field measurement method (95 dB [A]) - Vehicles with defective or illegally altered exhaust systems shall also be banned.
    - The NBG reserves the right to exclude vehicles with visibly recognisable defects from the tourist drives.
    - vehicles travelling in pairs or in convoys, are forbidden.
The Ring has occasionally used these rules to ban drivers they think might race.
  • Racing tyres are also banned.
If you're going to take tyres/wheels specifically for the Ring, make sure they're not slicks or would be illegal on German roads.

Having said all that, it's not difficult to stay on the right side of the staff. They like cars, too, and are happy to help us have fun.

I dont think any weekend is going to offer clear camping or track during mid summer. It would be great to the pod and this but this would win.

Thanks for adding ym name to the list @Nitin_S1 while my internet was down.

I'm very much looking forward to this. Driving there and back is a part of the fun of it. I would also love to drive my car around the track, but won't be driving too fast.

Plus I'm not sure if it's altogether intelligent to travel slowly around a track where people will more than likely be going fast. :?:

Add to that you're not allowed to time or video your laps.

I'm just gonna try not to crash again. I'm still not used to RWD
