LLL - not sure where you're getting your costing from?!

Here's what I calculated in the first post of the gauging interest thread:
ferry/tunnel - £100
Fuel - £150 (600 mile return trip between Calais and Nurburgring, using 25MPG and £1.35/litre) doesn't include fuel cost of going round the 'Ring or getting from your house to Dover. If we cruise the motorways, which I'd suggest is probably a good idea, no reason we shouldn't see 30+ MPG.
Europe required items - £50 if you don't already have them (now require breathalyzer for France of which we spend about half an hour in!)
Your costs are very conservative I'd say.

It is best to book as soon as possible, but until the date is 100% confirmed there's no point! Especially with now finding out about the festival, it may well be moved.

@gayno: i was working on it costing £100 a full tank (topped off) of decent fuel with a safe 350 miles out of each tank (which is what we all know is what we get on a cruise) and it will take me 1000 miles there and back.

thats £300 on fuel

then £100 on ferry?

then £100 who knows what safety cash.

and yes you could knock off £100 for sure. I really think people should over estamate on ALL expenses regardless. The danger otherwise is to not have enough ......

so £500 door to door give or take each car. I would like to be pretty sure an 11 car transporter wont cost £5,500  :?:

then all you have to worry about is travel to the transporter meet and flights to cologne airport (closest biggest one?)

And let us not for get, not only are you sure to get THERE on a transporter. You are sure to get at least the biggest bits of the car home regardless of condition    :?

Are we ok with my mate Nick coming in his scooby? We have been trying to go for the last 3 years and he is ready and waiting..

Isnt the whole point to drive down there.

Once at the ring im not going to drive my socks off but have fun. Id hate to crash.

All have a long convoy. Everyone has everyones number. We all stop at the same time for fuel. All have spacer savers and oil etc.

It will be great.

The guy I do valeting for buys his cars in Scotland and they get transported to Bristol for £100 per car just as an idea but I can get a cost for you if you want. Some people could drive some on transporter if you think you won't make it lol

The other consideration with the transporter, is you effectively have to pay for the driver all weekend + accomodation + his food/drink on top of hiring the truck + fuel + channel crossing.

Nahh, the company you use will deliver the cars with one truck then send another to collect them again.

It might not even be the same company that takes you both ways, you'll pay return but the car transport company's all buy jobs off each other. We do it with frozen food.

Really?

So that's then 2 x return trip fuel bills, plus 2 x channel crossings.......seems like the price will be the same either way!!
