Hey, we can drive, we just watch a lot of Ronnie Pickering videos! ;)

Yeah, it's embarrassing. Have you gone to the french speaking side of Belgium? Because the roads there are even worse then in flanders. You can really feel in the roads changing from:
-Nice, feels like floating over the road -> Holland
-Wtf is this? Did something break in my suspension? Do I have a flat tire?? -> Flanders
-OMGWTFBBQ IS THIS? WHY IS THE ROAD TRYING TO KILL ME? IS THIS THE ROAD TO HELL??? -> Wallonia

@sven, actually the E40 and E17 were generally OK. It was the E34 from Antwerp to the Holland border which was terrible!!

On our detour I drove through antwerp. The roads were terrible. Cobbeled either side with a raised tram line section. Lorries and delivery vans were parks on the cobbeled meaning I had to drive onto the raised tram line. Any prelude going down there would damage something. Luckily I was in the van.

That's exactly why we always take the Dunkirk boat. It's a net hour longer but gives nearly 2 hours break in the middle.

The drive was one of the best parts though. Especially with the cb radios.

Most of us stopped in hotels the night before, so this wasn't really the issue here.

I'm sure after using the tunnel most, if not all, of us will use it again over a ferry.

I didn't find the drive as knackering as I thought I would.
Some of the road sections were unpleasant but then again my suspension set up is pretty stiff.

A highly enjoyable road trip, especially with the CB radios as mentioned. Lots of top banter/inappropriate talk.
