Forgot to update some work done last weekend. Coolant/Oil leak work and fitting new Samco main rad hoses;

Engine was disgusting where I'd left the minor leak for a few years :suicide: This pic is actually AFTER the first gunk session... :oops:
Image

A few more sessions of Gunk and a bit of Jizer
Image

It's actually still black on top of the gearbox tbh but this bit has cleaned up ok-ish;
Image

Spool valve off, pretty clean inside actually;

Even cleaner after a session on the Jizer;

Blurry photo of the side of the head before re-fitting. I'm pretty sure the spool valve isn't what was causing the leak :(

Checked the end of the heater hose (centre of the pic above and 2/3 pics above that) and it was a bit soft from the continual oil on it, but not perished at all, so I'm also a bit confused about the coolant leak there, but chopped about a centimetre off and refitted it anyway.

Samco rad hoses from Project eX fitted (wanted black to keep the OEM look on this car). I swapped the protector sleeves over from the original hoses too, as you can see;

Annoyingly they'd fitted the Samco stickers so they face downwards on the hoses :evil: but never mind. Job done and all bled/run up ok. Now I just need to watch to see whether the leak is from the cam seal or distributor.

Good work bud - nothing better than some new calipers to fend off the most annoying common fault on these cars.

I've just scrolled through the whole of your pics and post.

It's truly wonderful guys like you give these superb cars a new lease of life. I love each stage of the respray process and the colour you've chosen is really sound.

Its a credit to you. :)

Just been having a look through this thread, especially the bits on the wipers-cowling and the sound-dampening as it is something I hope to do later this year. Good work!
