I started but going on a diet

Next was stripping out the OEM sounddeadening. Its rubbish and weighs over 12kg so out it came.
There are plenty of ways this can be done but the easiest way i found was to get yourself a small hammer and give the tar stuff repeated taps with it. This works best on a cold day.
What your doing is shocking the tar from its fixed surface.

using this method you save hours of scraping as the tar just falls off. The biggest bit i took off in one was this big!!

you can see the hammer impacts. You dont want to do it hard, ust enough to spring it away from the metal.
Once the car was empty of this rubbish (it really does bugger all) I could get on with speaker fitting.
I have put a small amount of sounddeadening around the rear ports, covered all the holes etc. I have also removed the weather shield from the front door and put layers around the speaker ports on the doors. I plan to get a little more and cover the remaining holes in the doors to get a tighter response.
This is what was going in

The amps are mounted on 10mm mdf. This is cut to fit between the rearseats and the metal bracing.
Pair of Infinity Reference 6.5' components for the front.
Pair of Infinity Reference 5.5' Full range for the rear.
Rockford Fosgate P6000 to run the fronts.
JL Audio 1200e mono block to run the rears.
Pro shielded cable and hi quality 364 strand speaker wire.
I will be running the Fronts full range and the rears will be running sub only. This is an effective use of the space available as you only need one monoblock amp rather than a whole other cab and stops the nasty effects caused by playing full range front and back...
I dislike 6x9's. they sound like a bag of wanking monkeys imo so this is how the rear shelf looks. I have used a few clean but old socks as spacer for thecover. This can, and will, vibrate like hell if its not braced a little..

Next was the fronts. Iv done this before twice. Never happy with the results.
This time I stripped the effort down and went for 15mm spacer (this means the speakers would fit behind the oem covers with no hassle), NOMORENAILS and self tapping screws.
It looks like this.

To get the doorcard and cover back on nicely you need to fit the spacer off set. This means you need to take a hammer to the edge. Open it out a little.

make sure the windows up for this bit

you could cut it out but 2 mins with a hammer is all it needs to clear the rear of the speaker...

I put the crossovers in the doors. Wrap in a few plastic bags for water safety and to keep them secure and your away.
The whole soundsystem weighs 10kg. I removed over 14kg of OEM sounddeadening and useless cable so I count this as a DOUBLE win modification

I will get a picture of the rear amps fitted next I drive the car
