Re: Smokey - My gen4 import
Cheers dude...
bit of an update
Well its been a while from any work has been actually done on the car. More just buying and cleaning bought things in my gaff.
So went down and had at it today.
So everything is now out of the back (inside and underside) and it is all cleaned and ready for the underside to be painted. 4WS system is now completely out of it. Rear seats, belts, trimmings everything gone.
All new (well, to me anyway) 2ws subrame, polybrushed suspension arms all painted up and ready to go into it.
Just need new top arms, tank painted up, suspension cleaned and repainted.
will be getting these sorted during the week and then refurbing the calipers and then putting the rear back together.
Before

After the drill and brush, now its sitting in rust remover

Before

How it looks now

Tank is nearly done

Painted up stuff ;D

Also removed the spoiler and the aerial, no need for it and I despoiler everything so had to be done lol

So, had at it today. Afte the last update it was sitting in rust remover and cleaned all that up today. Hit it with the brush again, cleaned it and then painted it up.
Quite pleased with it.

Sorted the tank too

Then decided I deserved a reward!

Also removed the calipers and letting the brake fuild drain.
Will be taking off the springs tomorrow and giving them a sand down and then a paint.

Looking good, how long is this project going to take? Wish I had a garage for mine I do everything to mine on my drive way, well gravel car park on some home made ramps. Wish I had the time and a second car but unfortunately I don't so it's only quick jobs each day I can. Keep posting

Re: Smokey - My gen4 import
Cheers dude. I wish I knew how long! lol!
I want it ready for Start of August to at least get some summer months out of it.
Had at it again today...
I was going to just filler these, with just a small bit of welding and the front of the arch.
The amount of filler I had to removed from this was unbelievable!
Rear arch (driver side only done so far) is in a sorry state with pit marks all over it.
Its been punched in about just under an inch at the rear of the arch so that needs to be brought back inline which is probably why so much filler was used, just as a quick fix.
Also, cutting out a section to weld in would also let me treat any rust in behind it.
This is pretty much smooth so you can see what the pitting is like

What I was thing was cut out where the rust starts, up aout 2 inches, and straight back to the end of the photo almost and then get a wack of the bonnet shaped and welded in??
You can see the step in where it comes into focus, it should be straight down.

As for the front of the arch...

The other side looks like this...

So im getting onto the group buy to get them sorted.
Feck trying to fix this mess lol. Cant wait to get the angle grinder out and at them tomorrow
