Re: BB4 MOT pass and some stats

Post by vanzep » Mon Jul 08, 2013 6:57 pm

I got the opportunity to take my lude in for its MOT today - its a couple of months earlier than needed but ive always hated getting my MOT into the winter months when the weather is so bad you cant work on the car and fix any issue identified in the test so i wanted to bring it forward.
Glad to say the BB4 passed its MOT with no advisories.
Its the first time i have seen an MOT carried out and on the most uptodate equipment and it was interesting to observe
I was quietly concerned about the emissions side of the test and there has been a bit of debate on the forum about cat test vs non-cat test.
The BB4 went through the non cat test and the readings confirm it would have just failed and no more on the cat test - so despite my worries about overfuelling this proves that im getting a clean burn :)
Other interesting stats were that my BB4 weighs in at 1240 kilos with 30 litres of fuel on board - so just over 1200 kilos if i run the tank dry.
Front brake force: left 274 kgf - right 284 kgf
Rear Brake force: left 167 kgf - right 157 kgf
so reasonably well balanced - thanks to@Merlin for helping with the brake refub the other week ;)

we will not talk about the parking brake efficiency - it always seems to be poor but it was a pass.

My titanium heatwrap arrived today so i plan on getting that in place soon along with a refurbed rocker cover :)

Good stuff :) 8-)

Noticed yesterday the real rasp to this thing now with the twin loop too. At one point you revved her suddenly and Claymore's lad who was passing nearly made some work for the launderer. (He may not have been the only one :? )

BB4 MOT pass and some stats

Post by W1ggz » Mon Jul 08, 2013 7:18 pm

Did they get you the weight by using the rolling road break tester as they have this at my work so thought of weighing the mine on it? Oh and congrats on the clean bill of health

Cheers and yes i did see Claymores two lads appear at the front of the car looking a bit shocked - didnt realise they were behind the lude :o
sorry but im a bit childish sometimes and one of the guys on another stand kept revving his engine time and time again - so i had to show him what the lude sounded like  i didnt hear him rev his engine after that ;)

yep - it gives a total weight including the MOT tester sat in the car but as i know his exact weight it was easy to take that out of the equation and i had just put 40 litres of fuel in on the way to the test station so figures are accurate to within +/- 5 kilos :)
Makes you wonder what i could get the weight on the lude down to if i started stripping it out for track :?

Would be good to see some figures when others get their mot/weight.
