To be honest if I'd had the opportunity to get a type s I'd have probably taken it but it would have been wasted on me anyway. It would have just meant more time and effort removing all the nice trick JDM bits to make it go faster.

Although I do wish mine didn't have a sunroof.

After covering the intake in the last update the next logical upgrade would be the exhaust. While I was at the lude behaviour Northern meet I spotted an exhaust manifold that I really liked. After a chat with the owner (Floydie for those that go that far back) I managed to get the name and number of the fella that sold him it.

Another phone call later and I had the second one of only two ever sold in uk winging it's way to my home address.

This is what turned up.

The rest of the exhaust was taken care of by my local exhaust specialist Exhaust a Fix. They have since become my place of choice for all things exhaust related. They fitted the manifold along with a custom 2.5" stainless system with 100 cell sports cat. Unfortunately I have zero pictures of this stage of the build so it will have to wait for the next update.

That's bollocx. ATTS has no effect on stealing transmission loss. My whp was in line with others before the charger went on. Around 204 iirc at the wheels and 227 at the fly.
ATTS only works when the wheel turns. In a straight line it does nothing.

As Ben said. All ludes will be roughly the same in a straight line unless serious torque is added.

Those figures sound a lot more realistic. Has to be a case of Spam Speed's sketchy dyno giving an erroneous WHP figure for Sam, unless he fills his engine with tar at every service while treating the hub bearings with threadlocker. :D

Right this update is probably gonna be a big one. After running my lude for some time with the new intake and exhaust I found myself wanting more power and constantly researching the best ways to achieve it.

It became apparant that I needed to further increase the airflow to the engine. To do this I bought these...

Image

What you're looking at is a Skunk2 pro series intake manifold and Skunk2 pro series 68mm billet throttle body. At the time I thought it would just be a simple bolt on job but it turned out to be much harder. After roughly a day or so of removing parts and scraping the old gasket off it looked like this.

Image

Image

Some of you may have noticed a couple of other trick bits in the engine bay at this point. I might have to have a go a writing a spec list when I've got the thread up to date. Anyway, I fitted the new gasket and then the new manifold but found I had to remove the cruise control servo to fit it in.

Image

Image

I decided that it was best to just ditch the cruise control as it had never worked since owning the car so off it came. The rebuild then continued with the addition of the throttle body and the various other parts that I had removed.

Image

I also fitted this ultra racing strut brace.

Image

And that was it rebuilt. There were a few teething problems however with the idle as parts of the system were now missing but I eventually got it to a point where it was running ok but I had to adjust it again once the whether warmed up. There'll be more on this issue in future updates.

To be honest looking back now the increase in power (if any) was hardly noticeable apart from a slight increase in throttle response but this was probably because the car required some serious mapping. This will also be covered in future updates.
