Right this update is probably gonna be a big one. After running my lude for some time with the new intake and exhaust I found myself wanting more power and constantly researching the best ways to achieve it.
It became apparant that I needed to further increase the airflow to the engine. To do this I bought these...
What you're looking at is a Skunk2 pro series intake manifold and Skunk2 pro series 68mm billet throttle body. At the time I thought it would just be a simple bolt on job but it turned out to be much harder. After roughly a day or so of removing parts and scraping the old gasket off it looked like this.
Some of you may have noticed a couple of other trick bits in the engine bay at this point. I might have to have a go a writing a spec list when I've got the thread up to date. Anyway, I fitted the new gasket and then the new manifold but found I had to remove the cruise control servo to fit it in.
I decided that it was best to just ditch the cruise control as it had never worked since owning the car so off it came. The rebuild then continued with the addition of the throttle body and the various other parts that I had removed.
I also fitted this ultra racing strut brace.
And that was it rebuilt. There were a few teething problems however with the idle as parts of the system were now missing but I eventually got it to a point where it was running ok but I had to adjust it again once the whether warmed up. There'll be more on this issue in future updates.
To be honest looking back now the increase in power (if any) was hardly noticeable apart from a slight increase in throttle response but this was probably because the car required some serious mapping. This will also be covered in future updates.
