UKDM vs JDM front bumper bar

Whilst installing the lights i changed the bumper bar.
UKDM on the left, JDM on the right. Huge size and weight difference. The UKDM one is thicker, stronger and has the vibration dampener on it. i wanted to install it to see if it reduces engine harshness and loudness.

JDM weights 4kg and is flexible as chocolate asscream, UKDM weights 14kg.

More weight. more racecar....

Look at that flex

Does it make a difference.....yes. At high rpm im no longer getting a buzzing noise on the dash. Idle feels smoother a tad. I dont feel the 10kg weight difference right up front however its lockdown, cant really drive long enough to tell.

Well front UKDM bumper bar has come off. The dampener failed and started rattling so gone back to the lighter JDM bar.

The invidia exhaust rear box peeks below the bumper and it has minor surface rust in the stainless steel finish. Not pretty so i used VHT wrinkle black to hide it.

I decided to simplfy the audio system and sell the expenive speaker for a cheaper line of speakers.
Out came all the 0 Awg wiring, subwoofer wiring, 3 way wiring and mounting pods that were lead lined as ill be going 2 way and all subwoofer mounting parts line the plywood as sub duties will be done my 6x9 subwoofers.
Saved 14kg of weight removing that stuff plus 5kg for the subwoofer. SO 19kg of weight removed in audio equipment simplifing the system.

New Hybrid audio Unity speakers front and rear. Rears are acting as subwoofers and work sooooo well.

Next up is the Honda Legend (acura RL) KB1 big brake conversion and rear brake refurbishment because i have new wheels comming that will show off the brakes very well.

Calipers stripped and blasted.
Image

Etch primed, 2k high build primed, BSC (nottingham caliper paint) 2k silver caliper paint and finished with 2k lacquer.

New bolts and Type S decals because.............Type S.
Image

Size compared to the Accord Type R front calipers. about 3kg lighter than the ATR calipers.

Rear calipers getting the same treatment and same paint.

Painted the rear dust shields also to visually make the rear brakes look bigger.

To do the KB1 big brakes you need Fat Four customs caliper brackets from the USA, 328mm Nissan 350z brembo discs and the centre bore needs machining out to fit the Prelude hubs a couple of mm and im running Dixcel Type Z brake pads imported from japan, Motul RBF 600 brake fluid for a full flush......oh and wheels that will clear the calipers.

They will fit a 4th gen. Either do a 5 bolt hub conversion or buy pre drilled 4 bolt hole disc brakes from fat four customs.

That brake upgrade looks awesome Ratty. Silver calipers look great on white. Red calipers on white have been done too much IMO.
You'll have to let us know the difference performance wise.

No performance difference really. Big brakes don't stop the car any faster. Standard brakes will lock the wheels up until abs kicks in just the same amount.
Brake power comes from tyres mainly, then pads. More tyre grip, less chance of wheels locking.
Big brakes offer more brake torque from a bigger disc, more bite from the extra pistons evenly distributed over the pad and higher heat resistant and less pad fade for more consistent feel.

I did it for looks mainly. ATR brakes worked just fine, just don't look as pretty behinds spokey wheels.
