JDM 5th Gen 2.2
JDM 5th Gen 2.2
Bought the car from another member on this forum:
http://www.ludegeneration.co.uk/prelude ... t9945.html
It's a 1997 SIR with the full red interior and it's a manual, which apparently is really rare. Out of all the ones I saw on Autotrader, eBay and the forums, this one was the one that I had my heart set on and I'm glad that the seller waited a couple of weeks for me to collect it after placing a small deposit.
After collecting it from Chelmsford, I drove it to my office, popped inside to get something and went outside to start it again with no luck! Called AA and when the guy came, he said the battery was knackered as it hadn't been used properly in a few months, I was relieved that it wasn't anything more serious! Had him jumpstart the car so I could drive it back home and went straight to Kwikfit the next morning to get a new one.
Apart from that minor issue, I couldn't be happier! I've done about 100 miles so far since collecting it on Saturday afternoon and it hasn't missed a beat. VTEC is seriously addictive and you can really feel it when it comes on.
So far, I've bought the following items:
Cheap Sony head unit
2 x MTF-3 gearbox oil (which will hopefully sort out the 5th gear crunch)
2 x front anti roll bar drop links (advisory on previous MOT)
Battery
Semi transparent yellow vinyl for the foglights
Spare key
White LED lights for the rear number plate
Philips Xtreme bulbs for the dipped beam
3M carbon fibre vinyl to cover the wood head unit surround and parts where the window controls are
Plans for the future are:
Cambelt change
AEM V2 induction kit
Motegi kit (if I find one at a reasonable price)
Wheels that came on the Motegi model (don't know what they are called!) or Accord Type R wheels similar to these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400648365742? ... 1423.l2648
Overall, I'm glad I chose a Prelude and I'm sure I'll look after this car and enjoy it for years to come! I'll upload some pictures when I get a chance.
