Had some starting issues the last few times with the BB1. Pretty sure it's too do with my dodgy ignition wiring but I wanted to run something past people ...

I turn the ignition, car starts, but then immediately goes off when releasing the key. Had this a few years ago and it was the ignition switch, but checked it tonight and it looks ok (no guarantee that's it's still not the cause).

After two attempts, I held the key turning over longer than you should after the engine started and it kept it alive this time once the key was released... Any thoughts?

Sounds like the switch to me.

You could remove the wire from the starter. Get someone to hold the wire to the starter whilst you start it, then once you're started it and continue to hold the key in position disconnect the starter. See if it continues to run.

will do cheers Nath!

I've had a thought the other day that I may need to change my gearbox oil soon, I know Merlin put in Torco MTF fluid and Redline friction modifier to his, but how long after running the standard Honda MTF stuff to clean out the box I can't remember. Merlin do you remember roughly? (I don't know how to tag anymore :( )

I have an MFactory 4.64 FD & LSD.

I use Amsoil MTF with Redline friction modifier (only because I have a plate diff) https://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-1051-amsoi ... d-mtf.aspx

If you have a viscous or Torsen (helical) diff you don't need to use the friction modifier as the formulation of Honda MTF / Amsoil / Torco is fine to use as it is.
