well nearly two weeks ago i returned home with the lude being pulled by a breakdown truck lol electrical fault which i found several days later (as it kept blowing the fuel relay fuse) to be my bad tape wrapping....
Image
the end of the fuel relay i had to take the resistor box off because i fitted RC550 injectors of the opposite impedence, which means soldering all the wires together. i wrapped this in tape and left it in the engine bay but the tape obviously had eventually fallen off and was touching the engine block as an earth and so shorting out.

i have now re-wrapped it in fresh tape but put some heat shrink over it so it wont come off again, plus secured it to a none metallic hose out of the way

Did it take long to find? Nice easy fix otherwise :) I bet your heart had sunk initially.

a few days searching - when it first went i though it was a wire my son had knocked out, then i was convinced the dizzy had died but when i swapped that at the side of the road and it didnt work i noticed the fuel pump wasnt priming and so checked the fuel relay fuse which had popped. when i got her home, i fixed the wire james had knocked out which didnt fix things, i then checked to see if the main relay was faulty which it wasnt and then started checking everything in that area for a bad earth. after i'd checked everything around the drivers footwell, steering wheel cowling etc., under the bonnet was the next search and i then noticed the relay solder was exposed

yet again my fault like the other failures ive had recently :D nothing to do with the car, all my unfinished wiring jobs  like the two alternator incidences, plus various bolts i'd missed
