Post by Rocketrooney » Thu Mar 29, 2012 12:26 pm

Boys currently have a BB6 Si-R with the bottom end gone on it, but lucky enough i sourced a type-s which had been rolled. so i will be dropping the type s engine and running gear into it.

Sounds like a project man! We like those, however:

Just the engine I presume. ATTS will be hard to put in a normal prelude because of the sensors and different subframes etc :?

We need pictures...

The radius rods (just one example) are different on the "S" im sure. Even if there is doubt over the ATTS you still have have a 217bhp H22a 8-)

The Type-SH in the USA has ATTS as well, their "Base" Prelude is the same as the JDM SIR for what we are talking about here.

Lots of info on SH Vs Base on the net
The SH has a different block, it's a fact. That's why the SH and Base trannies is not a bolt on swap. Internally they are the same, but the block design on the outside is differnt. Intermediate shaft and tranny mounting, oil filter and a bunch of other stuff.

A few other differences you may encounter:
-The Type SH springs are a bit taller.
-The struts are different as well, the base where the spring is perched sits lower on the Type SH, hence the taller spring. It has a little firmer spring rate than the base.
-The front knuckles are different, the radius rods, the front trailing arms, and the roll bars are a couple of millimeters thicker than the base front and rear. -The rear trailing arms are a little thicker as well but not by much.

-The only problems with after market struts would be having to modify the dust guards on the struts with stock springs. If you go after market springs and struts that are replaced properly you will not run into any issues

-Header collector is longer to accommodate ATTS
-Exhaust is 2-3ish inches shorter at the cat connection to accommodate the header differences.
-Type-SH oil filter is in a different location on the block

yes radius rods and hubs are different, as the type s has a ball joint that connects to the hub instead of the Si-R which connects on to the lower control arm.
