good stuff - could i mention lightened flywheel... i bought and fitted one made by Kaiten which is a copy of the jun auto one but was a third of the price. No issues with it after 4 or 5 years use :)

I would absolutely love to buy one but there's smoke coming off my bank card right now.
Once I have the synchro's replaced on my gearbox I'm gonna splash out on one. But that'll be a job for next winter.
Does it really help the engine to rev faster?

The rear main seal was definitely fubar anyway. I didn't have time to put the new one in today so I just prepped and cleaned everything up. Tomorrow I'm gonna change the seal and put the sump back on with plenty of Dirko sealant in all the right places.
I'm hoping to get the box and new clutch in by Sunday.

@ Vanzep
You're weren't wrong about the flywheel, it weighs a ton.

Generally speaking a lightened flywheel definitely helps, at least it did on my DC5, much more free revving, you can tell there is less rotating mass, blipping the throttle and heel toe downshifts are a joy, less engine breaking but you get used to that, think mine was 0.9kg lighter.

Took the day off work today and managed to get the gearbox back in on my own with the help of an engine hoist and a trolley jack.
I'm tempted to skive off again tomorrow and get stuck into the seals on the timing belt side.

Cheers Drax. I've managed to track down the part numbers for the camshaft oil seals but I can't find the one for the balancer shaft oil seal. I don't suppose you know it off by heart by any chance?!

I started stripping the timing side today. The dreaded crank pulley bolt was first job, I bought the locking tool and used a one inch drive and it did the trick.
I've ordered all the rest of the seals and I picked up a new timing and balance shaft belt from a local place.
Might as well change them while I'm in there, even though they were only changed last year.

I took the power steering pump and and alternator off but I'm gonna wait for the rest of the bits to land before going any further with it.

I think I'll get stuck into painting all the control arms while I'm waiting.
