I didn't bother using laquer, my friend said not to.
I've done the same first time I was restoring my headlights and they looked stunning. 2 years later I had to do it again as they gone so milky that it was not acceptable.
I sanded them again painted with clear lacquer sanded and polished. And IMHO this is the only right way to do it. Even from factory they comming lacquered.

This. I've given mine a quick polish a few times - but the result is only temporary. The plastic is aged, when you remove the top most layer, the new layer underneath is just on the turn. In 6 months time it'll be cloudy again. Lacquer prevents the UV light from aging the plastic and is the only way to do it permanently.

Otherwise, good work going on there which will put the car in good stead for the future!

I was thinking the same tbh. I think I'll laquer them on Monday.

Dropped it off the stands and took it for a little spin around the yard today. Torqued the control arm bolts and the hub nuts while it was on the ground.

Cut out the other rotten cill also.

I can't get into my pal's panel beaters for a couple of weeks so I started on the rear suspension today.

I'm gonna have drop the rear subframe, the petrol tank and the exhaust to do it all properly. Some amount of work needed.

I'm hoping to have everything stripped tomorrow and then I'll be scrubbing and painting for a couple of days at least.

Loads of new bits and pieces to go back into it then.

Can someone tell me if it's ok to fit a rear strut brace on our cars please?
I read somewhere that it's not compatible with our 4WS system but that makes no sense to me.

No problem with a strut brace per se, though most are made for the 2WS and the 4WS ECU gets in the way of the bar.

Got the rest of her stripped today. It's not as rusty as I expected it to be tbf.

If I can get the body, the subframe and the fuel tank scrubbed and painted tomorrow I'll be happy out.

They were all the same on my 4th, not 100% on a 5th though.
