I was gutted to have to sell her, but no way I could keep it with the drastic change in life plans I have now. Really happy to know she has gone to someone who will give her the love she deserves. Been an awesome car, and I hope she continues to be as reliable for you, as she has been for me. Good luck with her. :D

Started making progress

Post by Rich » Sun Aug 12, 2018 1:15 am

I've finally started making headway with the lude. Got rid of my main car on Thursday so it has become somewhat of a priority to get the lude up to spec as it will be our main family car for a while now. This is good, because things will actually get done - instead of me just planning to do things...

Anyway, first thing I've done is replace the radiator and hoses, as well as the thermostat which ADS1 kindly included with the car. I've also (temporarily) swapped over the intake for the K&N typhoon whilst I repair the type s intake.

I stuck my old OZ SuperT's on, as the existing wheels were looking a bit worse for wear with rust bubbles under the paint (I think I'll let them go with the old lude after I've taken what I need from it), and I've started stripping bits off the old lude. Think I'll do interior next (get rid of the sex-blocker and install a cup holder etc, and my OMP Corsica wheel), then it's onto the suspension... got some nice BC coilovers to swap over, can't wait to get them on but don't even know where to begin - so I'll be doing a lot of reading up in this forum.

Next up is brakes, it's MOT time soon and I'm sure I heard some squealing today, so I'll get discs and pads, but at the same time I think I'll give the calipers a refurb and lick of paint.

I have a carbon fibre bonnet to go on too which I am going to colour the same as the body, when I eventually decide which colour to go (if I'm going to have to respray the car - which I think is inevitable - then I might as well take the opportunity to change the colour).

Should get all this done in the next few weeks (except the respray), so watch this space. Sorry I've not included any pics this time - I forgot to take any and it's dark now. I'll add some when I get chance.

The old one is too far gone. My aim is to get this one looking like the old one, better in fact.

Here's a pic of how it is now:

There's not a lot I can do with it, and if I could save it I would; but the sills are rotten, can't even jack it up it's so crumbly. The windscreen is cracked, a-pillars rotten through, both arches shot, and brakes seized. Front wings damaged from when the bonnet blew up over the windscreen and twisted the hinges and everything nearby. The list goes on...

Mechanically and electronically it's pretty sound, but the body is screwed.

I'm just gonna take the good bits off it, swap them into this lude (or into my parts hoard) and then I guess I'll be scrapping it.
