Sol-ludes new BB4

Post by sol-lude » Sun May 20, 2018 9:56 pm

So a couple of you may know I had been egging ryanmustard to sell me his lude since I saw he bought it.
A few may remember the bird poo picture of this old gal.
Think a few issues with her pushed Ryan a bit too far following another EML and he gave in to my demands. Haha

Got her back home late last night and set about fixing the EML. VSS was goosed, so replaced with a spare and the speedo was all back working. Run to Dundee and back and she just wasn't running 100%

Worked on bros car this afternoon then set in about erm cleaning the old gal.
Pics ain't loading as they are too big in tappa talk[FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY]

So far... Ive done the VSS, good clean (still needs some more) on the interior, have covered the blowing flexy with two soup cans, got the replacement one from Lucas (legend), trying to source local gasket however should have just bought gasket sheet online, going to remove the downpipe this weekend and see what I am faced with. Wheel bearing done, thought I would have been able to swap over the spare arm I have however the threads are goosed on the bottom ball joint. So last Thursday night was spent changing the wheel bearing, finally got finished at 23.30 don't think the neighbours appreciated me using impact gun at that time of night

I was lying under her *ahem* at the start of the week adjusting the soup cans  and noticed the little pipe that connects from the steering rack to the inner rod boot is looking a tad gooey. Hoping I can just clean it and its not a massive leak for the MOT which will be getting done in the next week or so.
Numpty here though taxed it at end of the month so will have 2 payments coming out in the middle of the month for the tax thieving government ... :suicide:

think that is all for now.

So the list is ever growing
The downpipe is replaced, I gave up looking for the gaskets, used red high temp cat safe sealent and done the trick, also popped on the spare SS manifold I had lying about and she now doesn't sound like a tank... In fact she sounds really subtle and pulls like a train again.
Found the power steering leak
Both NS upper and lower ball joint boots are split and the NS track rod end boot is also gubbed.
Quick clean last night and some wax on her this morning was quite impressed. ImageImageImageImageImageImage
