Mike's Type S

Post by ATR84 » Fri Nov 09, 2018 4:43 pm

This is a profile for my 1999 Honda Prelude Type S purchased from Torque GT just a couple of weeks ago. The mileage upon import was 81,843. I don't plan on doing more than 3,000 miles a year in this, it is my 2nd car and lives in my garage when not being driven.

Current modifications:

- Mugen header/manifold (even has the original Japanese certificate that came with it)
- Earth grounding kit
- New Meister R Coilovers (supplied and fitted by Torque GT) (Adjusted by Performance Autoworks 29/10/18)
- New 17 inch Rota Torque's in gunmetal grey wrapped in Yokahama AD08's (supplied and fitted by Torque GT)
- New Alpine CDEW296BT Double Din Bluetooth Handsfree Car Stereo (supplied and fitted by Torque GT)
- New Skunk 2 Exhaust and de-cat (fitted by Performance Autoworks 29/10/18)
- Intake resonator removed and new K&N filter fitted (fitted by Performance Autoworks 29/10/18)
- Climair Wind Deflectors (fitted by me in 2019 sometime)
- Magnecor silicone plug leads (fitted by Performance Autoworks June 2019)
- ATR Clutch (supplied and fitted by Performance Autoworks June 2019)
- Competition Clutches Ultra Lightweight Flywheel (supplied and fitted by Performance Autoworks June 2019)
- Refurbished Rocker Cover fitted (Performance Autoworks June 2019)

Other/Service History:

- Undersealed upon import with Dinitrol by Torque GT (September 2018)
- Oil and filter change upon import (September 2018)
- TGM Motorsport in Fleet have protected the inner arches with cavity wax to ensure no rust in the future (November 2018)
- Cambelt done, along with Manual Tensioner (fitted by Performance Autoworks June 2019)
- Crankshaft rear main oil seal (fitted by Performance Autoworks June 2019)
- ATTS drained and re-filled (Performance Autoworks June 2019)
- Gearbox oil drained and re-filled (Performance Autoworks June 2019)
- Sump drained, cleaned up and re-fitted with fresh Hondabond (Performance Autoworks June 2019)
- Fresh oil (Millers Nanodrive 10w 40) and Hamp filter + MOT with no advisories (Performance Autoworks June 2019)
- Valve Clearances done (Performance Autoworks June 2019)
- New dizzy cap, rotor arm, coil, coil cover, spark plugs and HT leads (fitted by Performance Autoworks June 2019)
- New Honda window trims for both front doors (fitted by me April 2020)
- Fresh oil (Millers Nanodrive 10w 40) and Hamp filter, new Honda OEM brake bads, new Honda PCV valve + MOT with no advisories (Performance Autoworks June 2020)

This is a picture of it when I first saw it at Torque GT, before I agreed to buy it, before they had prepped it for sale:

Here are a couple of shots of how it looks now:

So far, I love it. The way it drives, the way it looks, even the way it smells  In terms of performance, it feels easily as quick as my DC5 was, if not quicker, but that is just my bum dyno :) I can't quite believe the condition for what is a 19 year old car, it is amazing, the pictures don't do it justice.

I will get some pictures up of the inner arches when TGM send them across, they were totally spotless, they were very surprised at just how immaculate they were! I think they are used to taking these cars apart and finding some horrors!

In terms of Torque GT, I couldn't recommend them highly enough, their customer service was superb, Darren was a pleasure to deal with and was very patient (I am fussy).

Tomorrow, I am off to Performance Autoworks to get my exhaust sorted, I have a Skunk 2 megapower to go on, but it will need modifying to fit due to the irregular header and cat lengths on the Type S, so I would have had this issue regardless of the brand I ordered.

I look forward to meeting some of you at any meets/shows I attend.

Nice work. I like the OE+ look your going for. Keeping them close to standard in terms of looks will last forever. As soon as i started on my white crx i spent loads making it look different (Lexarse lights ect  ). Fast forward 5 years and i was spending even more to put it back to how it was :D OE+ FTW.
