Cool thanks, do you have any links for those coil-overs, are they east to fit, also i need to look into this shock knock, both cars have an annoying noise coming from the rear that sounds like i have stuff loose in the boot moving around.
Any help sorting this would be appreciated.

I also need to source:
Poly bushes for anything I can
Upper control arms
Anti roll bar
Anything I replace I would like it to be uprated versions to make it better.
I am fighting a losing battle with the black car.

My red lude is nearly fully stripped ready to sell parts individually to fund the other 2 cars.

These are the coilovers Jebb is talking about https://www.meisterr.co.uk/products/mei ... bb9-92-01/

I have them on my type s and had a set on my previous 4th gen, great coilovers.

If you have shock knock the coilovers will get rid of that. I think there is a hack to fixing shock knock with a couple of washers, but never done it myself.....

I don't know so much about the black car but you have a great base with the silver one

If it's shock knock you have it's created when the two ring donut shaped bushes in the top mount wear/compress and allow the shock assembly to slide up and down a fraction.

The proper cure is to replace these bushes, but the simple cure that can be done with the car on the ground is to add a washer to fill the gap where bushes have worn (lost height).

One of these bushes is underneath the top mount, the other is on top. There is then a short tube that goes through all three of these components. When new, the tube should not protrude past the bushes, but when the bushes wear the tube protrudes through and this then allows the bushes and top mount to slide up and down the tube.

So, to prevent this from happening you need a washer with an ID fractionally larger than the OD of the tube and ideally with an OD the same as the top bush's OD. The thickness needs to be enough to fill the gap plus a bit to put the bushes under compression again.

You can safely undo the top nut on the shock when the weight of the car is on the shock. Then remove the top washer. This washer is convex/concave, so take note of which way around it goes then you should see the protruding tube I'm talking about. Hopefully then all I've said will become clear ;) You can make up the washer height with multiple thinner washers.

Alternatively... You need to replace your droplinks ;)

Done some little work to the ludes.
Painted the horrible paintbrush blue rocker cover and strut bar on the black car in Cadbury purple pearl using a spare cover I brought, sourced an air con compressor for the silver one and started to prep ready for paint, will be done in metallic black.

The paintbrush blue rocker cover is in paint stripper at the moment I'm thinking of doing it electric blue metallic

Sadly my black Lude was hit by a old man in a white van.

Pretty pissed off to be honest, especially as I had a hard job tracking it down and the big round trip I made to go get it.
But I suppose now I can focus more time and money to the silver one

Surely you could just buy it back and repair the damage :? Looks pretty minimal - I repaired worse on nikka's lude recently and bri did a total rebuild of the front end of his old red lude a few years back... Such a waste!

Aww man, that looks totally repairable! And cheaply too!

The problem is they want £1540 to buy it back. Too much I think, for me anyway with all the other work that was needed.
