Tobe's new 2.2 VTi Driveway rotter project!

Post by tobyslude » Thu Sep 10, 2020 11:25 pm

Hey guys, long time no see, sold my 2.0 BB9 a week ago, and within a week I've got my hands on another..!

My brother found this whilst delivering in the area, nice local find. Left a note through the door and the owner came back the same night. Car was left on the driveway after blowing a top hose, and despite the prev. owners best attempts at replacing the hose, broke the top of the radiator, so it has sat since for about 2-3 years. He now has a literally showroom 97' VTi in the sky blue colour.

A simple case of.. you don't ask, you don't get!

Now in my possession, I've started on replacing the radiator and putting some fresh Honda coolant through the system. Also gonna do an oil and filter change, Honda ATF change and give it a good clean at some point. Top of the rear arches are gone but hoping I can at least get it through an MOT to begin with! And I believe the 4WS still works!

good find - nice upgrade with it being a Vtec and with working 4ws :)
pity about the laquer peel - ity might just be me but ludes with the cassis red paint seems very prone to this.
but who cares about bodywork main thing is getting an MOT and Vtec :P
Let us know how you get on

Lucky find and well worth getting back on the road  . I assume you got it very cheap so maybe you can afford to get a front end respray on it as well

Thanks man, indeed I'm dying to drive it! I've only ever driven one car with VTEC and that was my brothers standard EP3 when he bought it. And 4WS is defo exciting :D

Yeah does suck about the paint, especially the fact it probably could've been saved if it had a cover cover it. Majority of the paintwork down each side seems okay, just the front bumper, bonnet, rear quarter and some of the a/b pillars. Will do!

Thank you, it was indeed a lucky one especially with such a nice previous owner who also wants to see it back on the road. I definitely got a very good deal indeed yes :)
