Looking going there Mike, I am a 3rd gen lover too.
How does the process go to dynax the seals and arches, is it easy to use.

Its making me want to sell my white lude and buy a 3rd gen. Even a 2nd if it can be found

Hey

The whole rust protection thing is fairly straight forward. The sills on the 3rd gen are very easy to get to. Just a couple of bungs in the wheel arch, take them out, and then you have access.

The inner arches are a bit harder in that rear seats needs to come out, along with the plastic inside rear quarter panel and boot lining. I have taken all of the above out yesterday ready for the cavity wax to be applied. I just ran out of time yesterday :)

I love 3rd, 4th and 5th gens. I don't know so much about 1st or 2nd gens but I am sure they are cool too 8)

I am certainly enjoying 3rd gen ownership so far. Keeping me busy anyway

I haven't got as far with this little project as I had hoped.

I did manage to get the inner arches protected with Dynax S50 but while having the interior apart I was significantly slowed down by a number of leaks into the boot of the car. The rear lights and boot seal among the culprits. The main problem is, you can't get replacement seals or rear light gaskets anymore so I have had to improvise with sealants and gorilla waterproof tape as a semi permanent solution. I have my contacts at Torque GT checking with Honda Japan to see if there is any old stock laying about anywhere, you never know.

I have had the wheel trims refurbished and I have new tyres here ready to go on the original steel wheels. This will be done next week when the car goes into have a once over at a local garage who my family have used for years, so I trust them.

While driving it I have noticed a few things:

1. Over speed bumps the suspension is a bit squeaky, no clunks or knocks though. I will get them to check everything to see if anything needs replacing under there.
2. After a few minutes of driving I do seem to get a waft of petrol in the cabin. No visible leaks anywhere. So they will need to investigate that as well.
3. Upon braking hard I get a strange noise from the ABS, not sure how to describe it, sort of a groan, very quiet, if you had the radio on you wouldn't hear it. I am less worried about this as it stops very well indeed.

Once things have moved along a bit further I will get some more pictures up.

Ok, so now I only have one Prelude left I have managed to get some things sorted on this one.

The problems mentioned previously have all been resolved.

1. The squeaky noise is just the bushes and only happens when cold going over speed bumps, nothing to do here.
2. Petrol smell was a loose hose under the bonnet
3. ABS noise was just the ABS kicking in under hard braking, normal.

In addition:

4. Was getting water in the boot, this was expensive to fix as it was a windscreen out job to re seal that and some welding was needed in the boot where the boot seal sits. No more leaks and no rust.
5. I fitted new speakers front and rear myself, as only 1 of the 4 worked. Originally I was going to go the full hog and get someone to amp it all up and put a sub in but now I am buying a Yaris GR this car will also be sold in due course so I just went for drop in replacements front and rear. Pioneer and Kenwood respectively. Nothing special but you can now listen to music properly. I have left the original stereo in situ and bought a cheap Bluetooth device that let's me play music from my phone through an unused radio channel. Works nicely.
6. Original wheel trims refurbished and fitted.
7. New battery.

So, this car will be sold when my Yaris GR arrives in April/May as I still need a car to get around in if the Mrs takes hers out. However, if anyone on here sees this and wants it please feel free to get in touch as I might be able to figure something out.
